 About the mentors/supervisors/consultants:

Dr. Diana Monteiro is the senior psychologist conducting this program. Dr. Monteiro is the Founder-Director of the Hyderabad Academy of Psychology. She obtained her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, USA in 2005 and is a licensed psychologist and health service provider in Tennessee, USA.

Dr. Monteiro returned home to Hyderabad in 2008  and has since kept her US Psychologist license active to stay abreast of current psychological practices and to ensure she is always up to date with psychological science.

When Dr. Monteiro returned to India, she did not have any guidance and found that most professionals in India were unwilling to share their journey with her. From simple things about how to decide how much to charge clients for counseling, to setting up an office, to rules and regulations about counseling- she began her journey from scratch. In 2009, she singlehandedly began The Hyderabad Academy of Psychology, a counseling and training center designed to train students in advanced psychological practice and to enable people in the Hyderabad community to receive professional and ethical counseling services.

Over the last 15 years of practice in India and her earlier practice in the US, Dr. Monteiro has become known for her integrity in the professional practice psychology. She is known for her command of ethics in counseling practice and her clear and sharp thinking which allows her students and mentees to get immediate answers as well as learn how to think about ethical, legal and professional issues in counseling.

Dr. Monteiro is uniquely positioned with experience and skills that cannot be acquired elsewhere as a result of growing her own counseling practice from the ground up, working with corporates providing counseling and training services, working with schools and colleges, starting counseling centers and providing workshops and talks for the general public, etc. Dr. Monteiro is known to be an excellent teacher and trainer and she will be the main mentor for this program.

Bona Colaco is a Clinical Psychologist licensed in India with fourteen years of clinical experience in counseling. She completed her Masters in General Psychology from Osmania University, and M.Phil Clinical Psychology from Sweekaar Academy for Rehabilitation Sciences. She also pursued basic and advanced courses in counseling skills from The Hyderabad Academy of Psychology. In India, she has worked with academic institutions conducting trainings in suicide prevention, stress management, study skills, and has provided individual counseling and psychotherapy. She has also worked at the Hyderabad Academy of Psychology as faculty, supervisor, and counselor .

Bona moved to the U.S. in 2015, where she received her Masters in Counseling at Palo Alto University (PAU), California. She also worked on a Stanford Medicine project at Stanford University, Palo Alto. The project researched internet-based interventions to make mental health services accessible and affordable to college students and to help them deal with anxiety and stress. During, and post Masters, she worked at the Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC), a community mental health agency. It included working at an Elementary school as a school counselor and providing psychotherapy at the in-house clinic, working with families, couples, adolescents, and individual adult clients.
